College Spring Break Consumption

YOUNG ADULTS

Spring break well-known among high school and college students as a time to get away from school pressures and have fun with friends. Many young adults go to beaches, on road trips, or parties during this week-long vacation. Unfortunately, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism found that nearly half of all college students binge drink, especially during spring break. Men reported drinking an average of 18 drinks per day, and women reported consuming an average of 10 drinks per day— both are outstandingly large amounts of alcohol for the body to process.
